Moving In

Well the time is finally here, after working 9 years on the job I finally got an office to myself.

I’ve had about the worst locations for my desk since I started here so this is a big upgrade for me. I would have been thankful to be a cube dweller. Up till now my desk has been floating around in a large open area, about 2 years ago I ended up next to a wall and that seemed like a dream at the time.

Moving my stuff was quite a chore though. I first had to clean out my new office, the former employee had retired. It only took about 2 full trash bins of paperwork from the early 80’s and I got to start moving furniture. I also found some wonderful vintage computer parts.

Moving my junk in wasn’t much better. I hadn’t been blessed with enough storage till now to keep all the cruft associated with my job responsibilities in my area. So I got to move in my desk, the 3 computers on it, my 5 development computers, 2 fireproof safes, a large filing cabinet, a book case, and enough junk to fill all of it.

So I have 4 walls a window and a door now. That’s good but the best part is being far far away from the main door to our office. Since that door is always locked visitors have to knock and someone has to answer. Normally that is the person who sits closest to the door (which was me) since they can hear someone knocking from 25′ down the hallway. It’s great not being interrupted every few minutes to go get the door.

So heres to being able to concentrate and listen to music :)
